Szczecin

Szczecin is the third largest in terms of area and the seventh in terms of city population in Poland. It is also the capital of the Zachodniopomorskie province. It is the biggest industrial and cultural center in its region. The city is home to a population of 500,000 and growing. By a fact that it is an important academic center there are also thousands of students from various specialisations.

The city is situated on hills rising up to 131 meters above sea level. The valleys which end in the Odra River are also a refreshing sight. It is surrounded by three wildlife forests, rivers and green islands. With limitless possibilities there is even more. The city contains 16 parks, perfect for walkers, family picnics, and corporate parties. Szczecin has a proportionate historical value as well. Today the city has about 200 monuments under legal protection. Also, Szczecin is a part of the European Route of Gothic Brick.

Szczecin is a port city even though it is not situated by the sea. The city has functioning port and shipyard. The city can be quickly reached by a hydrofoil, train or bus. For the lovers of sunbathing there are 3 city beaches. Szczecin is focused on yachting and ecology. Soon it will house the biggest marina for yachts. We also have more bicycle tracks being built each year. It is perfect to practice many kinds of sports. Additional attractions include underground shelters and old air defences.
